Philosophy

There are four loves in life: love for family, love for friends, romantic love, and self-love. According to Plato, there are four types of love: eros, philia, agape, and storge. Every relationship goes through four stages: acquaintance, attraction, commitment, and intimacy.

The concept of the four loves comes from C.S. Lewis's book, The Four Loves. Here, Lewis explores different ways we experience love, categorizing them into four main types:

- Storge (affection): This is the love of familiarity and kinship. It's the bond we feel with family, close friends, and even pets. It's built on shared experiences and a sense of belonging. - Philia (friendship): This is the love of shared interests and mutual respect. It's the kind of love we have with close friends where we enjoy each other's company, learn from each other, and offer support. - Eros (romantic love): This is passionate, romantic love with a strong physical and emotional attraction. It often involves feelings of intense desire, possessiveness, and idealization. - Agape (charity): This is unconditional, selfless love. It's often associated with religious love, but Lewis argues it can also be practiced by anyone who chooses to put another person's needs before their own.

Love is categorized into two groups based on their motivation: - Need-love: This love is driven by our own desires and needs. We seek love to fulfill ourselves, whether it's for companionship, security, or passion. -Gift-love: This love is freely given without expecting anything in return. It's about putting the other person's well-being first.

We believed that all four types of love are valuable and contribute to a rich and fulfilling life. However, we also emphasized the importance of keeping them balanced. When any one type of love becomes all-consuming, it can lead to unhealthy attachments and disappointments.
